Deacon Walter James Malone Obituary - Visitation & Funeral Information

Deacon Walter James Malone was born December 2, 1931, in Oktibbeha County to Aaron Malone, Sr. and Louella Jordan Malone. He confessed his life to Christ at an early age and joined the Pleasant Grove Missionary Baptist Church under the leadership of the late Reverend Clim Howard. He was ordained as a deacon in 1972 and served in that capacity for 45+ years. During his service as a deacon, he also served as Chairman of the Deacon Ministry. During his tenure as a deacon, he played a key role in the building of the new church that was completed in 1974. On May 2, 1953, Walter united in holy matrimony to Annie J. Anthony. They were united in marriage for 69 years. Three beautiful children were born from their union. Walter attended Pleasant Grove School where he took an early departure to help take care of his family after the passing of his father. Walter worked briefly in construction and retired in 1997 after working 40+ years at Eka Nobel Chemical, Inc. in Columbus, MS. He was preceded in death by his father and mother, Aaron Malone, Sr. and Louella Jordan Malone; three brothers: Tommie J. Malone, Aaron Malone, Jr. and Johnny Malone; one sister, Gussie Gillespie; son, Carl W. Malone and grandson, Sean M. Nance. On July 28, 2022, at Baptist Memorial Hospital in Columbus, MS, God welcomed Walter James Malone into his heavenly home where his spirit found its final resting place. He leaves to cherish his memories a devoted, dedicated, and faithful wife, Annie J. Malone; two beautiful daughters, Diana (Walter) Nance of Augusta, GA and Gloria Blunt of Columbus, MS; one daughter-in-law, Queen Malone of Crawford, MS; one brother, William (Geraldine) Malone of Flint, MI; two sisters: Nancy Norris and Maggie Peters of Starkville, MS; three grandchildren: Shamiko Malone of Birmingham, AL; Lacisha Blunt-Stallings of Columbus, MS and Carla Malone of Southaven, MS; three great-grandchildren: Tyliq Stallings, Tylan Stallings and Layla Liddell of Columbus, MS; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
