Cynthia Dyvaughan Norris was born May 12, 1955, in Huntsville, AL. The second of four children, she was born to the Jimmie Lee Norris and Nancy Norris. She received Christ at an early age at Pleasant Grove Missionary Baptist Church, she along with her brothers and sister served as ushers. In 1976, Cynthia became a member of Second Baptist Church in Starkville, MS. She was a member of the Adult Choir. Cynthia graduated from Starkville High School in 1974. After graduation, she attended Alcorn University and later transferred to East Mississippi Community College (EMCC) in Scooba, MS, where she pursued her passion in Funeral Service Technology. Throughout her career, she shared her gift of mortician and funeral director at various funeral homes throughout the state of Mississippi: Mississippi Funeral Service in Starkville, MS, Cockrell Funeral Home in Macon, MS, Century Funeral Home in Starkville, MS, Lee-Sykes Funeral Homes in Columbus and Macon, MS, Redmond Funeral Homes in Greenville, MS, Serenity Funeral Homes in Pontotoc, MS, Carter Funeral Homes in West Point, MS, E.E. In her role as preceptor at EMCC, she mentored students that now have successful careers far and wide. Cynthia enjoyed shopping and spending time with family.
