Mr. Charlie Frank Powers

“The Lord is near to those who have a Broken Heart, and saves such as have a contrite Spirit” Psalms 34:18 Mr. Charlie Frank Powers was born on January 25th, 1933, to the late Dudley Powers and Charlie Ann Seals Murdock in Starkville, MS. On April 11th, 2026, he was called home to his final resting place. Mr. Powers confessed his love for the Lord at an early age and became a faithful member of Second Baptist Church in Starkville, MS, where he remained until he became ill. He attended school in Oktibbeha County. Mr. Powers was a farmer for most of his youth and into his adulthood. After ending his farming career, he worked for over 25 years as a custodian at Starkville Manor Nursing Home, where he was well-liked and loved by the residents and staff. He also worked part-time at Oktibbeha County Hospital. Known for his smooth walk and infectious laughter, he will be missed by all who knew him. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Josephine Collier-Powers, son Wesley Powers, a sister, Margaret Fox, a very special aunt who raised him, Ossie Dell Seals, two sons-in-law, Rodney Nelson Shaw and Michael Page, and one daughter-in-law, Ora Powers. Charlie leaves to cherish his memory. His loving and faithful wife for over 13 years, Mrs. Sandy Kay Ivy Powers, 4 daughters: Darlene Powers of Starkville, MS., Leslie P. Shaw, Vanessa Ivy Page, and Courtney Lashay Ivy, all of Saltillo, MS., four grandchildren: Alex Ivy, Lillie Rose Page, Jamal Ivy, and Mya Singleton. One great-grandson, Jamir Alexander Ivy. Sisters-in-Law: Dorothy Johnson and Brenda Pratt (Terrell) both from Ackerman, MS. JoAnn Miller (Donald), Johnnie Kirkwood and Belinda Triplett (Derome) all from Louisville, MS. Three very special nieces; Clara Harper of Detroit, MI., Leaonetta Fox, of California and Vivian Davis, Union Springs, Al., one special nephew Booker T. Fox of Detroit, MI., and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Also, three very special family friends, Ms. Linda Yarbrough, Mr. Jeff Leaper, and Mr. James Townsend. Pallbearers: Demond Blanchard, Louis V. Conley, Esq., Jamal Ivy, Kevin Miller, Johnathan Shaw, and Shedrick Shaw. Internment: Mt. Peiler Cemetery #2
